Rockhal and the Schalltot Collective present:
Chicago's instrumental heavy rock band, Russian Circles will be back after their energetic live show in 2008 and they will threat their Luxembourgish fans to an intimate performance on 23 April 2012. Joining Russian Circles for this event will be San Fransisco's black metal band Deafheaven.
Unite three musicians, playing three unique roles, each compelled to move in the direction of what is timeless, to draw on history and take from where they've grown and from the traditions of music made decades ago - and you'll craft a moment, a Rite of Spring, a new foundation similar to what Russian Circles have accomplished on their third album, "Geneva".
Russian Circles are now touring around Europe in support of their fourth and latest studio album, "Empros", which was released in 2011 to a warm reception from fans and critics alike. Russian Circles feature former These Arms Are Snakes bass player Brian Cook along with longtime members, drummer Dave Turncrantz and guitarist Mike Sullivan.
This album showcased the band's balance of metallic fury and melodic beauty, creating a superlative post-metal opus. Brian Cook has further ingrained himself in the Russian Circles sound, allowing the galloping rhythm section just as frequently to play the lead as Mike Sullivan's effects-heavy, overdubbed guitars. Without a doubt the album stands as the band's masterpiece in their still-young career.
The evening will be rounded out by a concert of Deafheaven who followed up their buzz-worthy 2010 demo with the recently released "Roads to Juhda" LP, which the band is currently supporting on tour. Featuring blistering tracks that throw together a mixture of influences spanning from black metal to atmospheric drone and shoegaze, this band is a definite up-and-comer to keep an eye in 2012.
The only thing better than their Russian Circles latest album is to see them live. Get ready for their epic, sprawling music running the range of heavy discordant Metal, to soft delicate passages. The 23 April 2012 at the Rockhal will be spectacularly, featuring both bands in prime form. With minimal vocals, Russian Circles' music surely tells a story but only the story that you choose for it to tell.
