ANDERSON .PAAK & The Free Nationals
Anderson .Paak might be the new name on the horizon for American urban pop. Born under the name Brandon Paak Anderson, he is now professionally known as Anderson.Paak. Musically, he has been around since 2009 already and 2017 will mean his debut at Rockhal where he is due to perform on the 21st June 2017.
Born in 1986, Anderson .Paak, is known as an American singer, songwriter, rapper, drummer, and record producer from Oxnard, California. He released his debut album, O.B.E. Vol. 1 in 2012, under the pseudonym Breezy Lovejoy. He went on to release Venice in 2014 under his current nickname. Paak followed with Malibu in 2016, which received a nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album at the Grammy Awards.
In 2011, the artists started gaining acceptance in the Los Angeles music scene. During that time he was also working on his debut album, which he finished and released mid-2012. The following years, Paak found himself busy working on other music projects such as working on an EP as well as performing several songs on Dr. Dre’s album Compton. In January 2016, he indicated that he had been recording with Flying Lotus.
In January, 2016, Paak spoke with Scott Simon of NPR’s Weekend Edition Saturday. The interview that followed was titled “Anderson .Paak: ‘The Dot Stands For Detail’. It takes a closer look on his tumultuous background growing up as a child of mixed-race parents and the significance of “.” whilst also delving into details about his apprenticeship with Dr. Dre and how all these influences help him create his music.
