SHARON JONES & THE DAP-KINGS

On 25 February 2012, get ready to return to soul music with the impressive voice of Sharon Jones and her rampant orchestra. Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings will play a show with guaranteed quality on Saturday, 25 February at the Rockhal.
After starting as a gospel singer, Sharon Jones quickly became a reference in soul, groove and funk music, collaborating with the genre's greatest artists (as a background singer for The Fours Tops and The Drifters, to name but a few). In addition to her incredible voice, the band consists of outstandingly talented musicians: Binky Griptite, David Guy, Bosco Mann, Neal Sugarman, Joe Crispiano, Fernando Velez, Homer Steinweiss, Cochmea Gastelum and Hagar Ben Ari. Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings are featured on Michael Bublé's 2009 album, Crazy Love, in the track "Baby (You've got what it takes)".
The Dap-Kings have already been hired as session musicians on a number of projects associated with New York based DJ/producer/recording artist Mark Ronson. Most notable of these is their extensive inclusion and somewhat unheralded contribution to Amy Winehouse's album "Back to Black" (2006). The Dap-Kings were also the backing band used on Amy Winehouse's first U.S. tour.
"The Queen of funk" will present her latest album using the traditional instruments of her music style. Nevertheless, the Dap-Kings are an innovative band with formidable musicians who play the most refined riffs and an incredibly present bass… as you can see, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings won't only play a concert, they are going to set the audience on fire!
At a time where music is becoming more and more electronic, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings invite you to go back to the roots on 25 February 2012 at the Rockhal with an explosive show.
