On the 18th of June, a legendary band will hit the Club stage at the Rockhal. Best known for their own definition of punk rock, Flogging Molly is looking forward to celebrate a very special night with you!
Founded in Los Angeles in 1997, Flogging Molly got its start and its name from a local bar called Molly Malone's where the band played and grew and laid down the blueprint for its eventual success. From night to night playing to a packed house at Molly Malone's, the sound evolved organically. Traditional Celtic instruments like violin, mandolin and accordion blended seamlessly with grinding guitars and pounding drums. Since then, the Celtic punk ensemble has known a huge success, rocking the crowd all over the world.
Flogging Molly spent the last three months in Detroit, writing songs for the follow up to their acclaimed 2008 release Float. The band is currently in Asheville, NC, recording with producer Ryan Hewitt (Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Avett Brothers). Songs from the upcoming 2011 release will be performed during the “Green 17 Tour”.
The concept of this tour was born in 2004 as a countdown to St Patrick’s Day with a performance celebration in each city leading to the holiday. Flogging Molly fans anxiously await the “Green 17 Tour” each year as the festivities have grown into near-legendary status. Flogging Molly’s blend of traditional Celtic sounds, hard-edged punk and thoughtful lyrics, combined with the sheer power of their live shows have garnered a loyal following that matches the band’s energy night after night.
With special guests announced shortly, this seven-member nuclear family will show you on the 18th of June, why the legion of loyal Flogging Molly fans keeps growing every day!
