The ingenious pianist and famous composer Joe Jackson is one of those artists who, over the years, have gained total artistic freedom. His last album, “Rain”, was released last year and the artist is going to play at the Rockhal on 23 June 2009!

As an outstanding pianist with an excellent degree at London’s Royal Academy of Music, he could have gone about a career as a classical musician. But in that time he was taunted by New Wave, Ska and Punk, so Joe Jackson’s first steps went into rock music.

In 1982 he releases “Night & Day”, which is often considered as one of the major works of his post rock career. With its hot and catchy rhythms and its unstoppable melodies, this record is also where he releases “Steppin’ Out”, his biggest success. In 1984 “Body & Soul” comes out, a second album that is strongly influenced by soul music. After these two exemplary records, Joe Jackson stops making commercial pop music and starts his world music adventure (“Big World” in 1986), records instrumentals (“Will Power” in 1987) and even classical music (“Symphony no. 1” in 1999).

In the year 2000, he finally returns to pop music, reuniting his original band in 2003. In 2008, he is back in the ring with the album “Rain”.

In his 30 years of uncompromisingly professional activity, he has earned a huge amount of respect amongst musicians and an artistic credibility that was never put into question.
