If you believe bloggers and journalists all around the world, Team Me from Norway is one of the hottest newcomers of 2011 and on 15 October they will be playing a showcase concert at the Rockhalcafe in Luxembourg. The world seems to fall in love with this little indie band and their rich orchestrated music and unique live shows.
It all started out as an accidental success when Marius Hagen and his private, little side project Team Me ended up in a Norwegian national radio-battle for new and unsigned bands. Marius quickly had to get a band together and Team Me made their live debut in January 2010 at the finals of the contest. Marius´ little secret is not so easy to hide anymore.
Team Me have the last year played a lot of concerts at events like The Great Escape in Brighton, Club NME in London, Spot festival in Denmark and numerous festivals in Norway including two years in a row at Øyafestivalen in Oslo. The band have also been supporting for The Wombats and British Sea Power on tours in the UK and Norway.
Oslo’s Team Me has evolved from a collection of songs written by Marius, to a six person, multi-instrumental ensemble. The band has already received critical acclaim for their debut EP and energetic live performances and look set to build on this throughout 2012.
“To The Treetops!” their latest record, sees the band build on the eager enthusiasm displayed on their acclaimed EP and have created a vivid collection of expansive and addictive tracks which take in influences from across the musical spectrum. It’s a playfully experimental album full of depth and warmth, with each track bound together by their rich musicality. This album is positively bursting with summer energy and good vibes and is already perhaps one of the records people will still be talking about when 2012 draws to a close.
Even if all the instrumentation was stripped back and you were left simply with the bones of a song, you’d still know that this is addictive and compelling music. Their free showcase concert at the Rockhalcafe on 15 October 2012 will be a blast. The entrance is free as usual!
