After several years, disillusioned crooner Stuart Ashton Staples and his musicians will return to Luxembourg and the Rockhal on 4 March 2012 for a concert of incredible sound quality that only Tindersticks can offer. To the greatest delight of their fans, they will present their latest album "The Something Rain", which will be released in February.
Their music is different from anything else you might have heard. To our greatest pleasure, Tindersticks are known for carrying you away into a universe which creates feelings illustrated by sound. It is one of the characteristics of a band that attracted the attention of film directors such as Jürgen Karasek and particularly Claire Denis who collaborated with Tindersticks for the soundtracks of four films, including "Nenette and Boni" and her latest film, "White Material". These collaborations have significantly influenced the stage concept of Tindersticks, whose film concerts that delight their fans.
Their musical style is somewhere between jazz and indie, mixed with the melancholic and dark voice of singer and guitarist Stuart Ashton Staples, accompanied by David Leonard Boulter (keyboards and percussion), and second guitar player Neil Timothy Fraser. These musicians will carry you away in their own intimate and humorous atmosphere with their style called chamber pop.
The band had six members at the beginning but reduced itself to three in 2008 and found new energy by recording its 2008 album in only eight days. With this album, Tindersticks found a certain melancholic serenity which liberated them from their mannerism, and enabled them to orient themselves towards a more minimalist and aerial style. After five years of absence, this is not a resurrection, but the accomplishment of an extremely well interpreted style that is still being honoured today.
Tindersticks from the UK will do the honours of presenting you their music and contrasting melancholic joy on 4 March 2012 at the Rockhal, for a moment full of beauty.
