ZZ TOP RETURNS TO EUROPE WITH "THE TONNAGE TOUR: METRIC EDITION"
Starting at Pause Guitare Festival in Southern France, The Little Ol’ Band From Texas returns to Europe and tube snakes through Germany and up to the Swiss Alps, playing their famous brand of chrome ‘n barbecue inspired rock.
They doubleback and re-doubleback with the beer drinkers and hell raising innovators of Pilsen, Czech Republic. The tour caps off in the UK, Scotland and Ireland, with a closing appearance at Ramblin’ Man in Maidstone, England on July 30.
Following the most recent Suretone Records release of "ZZ Top’s Live! Greatest Hits From Around The World", a full 15 tracks are included, captured live across 3 continents, having two notable collaborations with guitar legend Jeff Beck and blues harp master, James Harman, while performing at London's Wembley Arena. James takes the harmonica spotlight in "Waitin' For The Bus" and "Jesus Just Left Chicago" while Jeff Beck cuts loose with a heavy rock version of Tennessee Ernie Ford's #1 hit, “Sixteen Tons”. ZZ’s version is based on a mysterious YouTube video curiously attributed to ZZ and Jeff Beck. Ironically, what started as “a mega-meta sorta thang” flourished into a contemporary staple of ZZ Top’s live show, inspiring the forthcoming tour’s tantalizing title.
Billy F Gibbons expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming "The Tonnage Tour: Metric Edition". “ It's another exotic spicy-hot Tex-Mex excursion and it's gonna be loud and lovely. Our friends, fans, and followers throughout Europe are in for a genuine good time!”
ZZ Top is noted for their long standing lineup, now nearly 5 decades running. Guitarist Gibbons, bassist Dusty Hill and drummer Frank Beard continue to enjoy playing favorites from a collection of 15 studio albums, rockin' on with timeless hits like “La Grange,” “Legs,” “Sharp Dressed Man” and “Tush” along with generations of audiences coming back for more, more, more. Let's rock!
