Some pop stars seem to be far away, but not Nena. She’s always been different from the others. On 29th April, she’ll present her greatest hits and songs from her new album at the Rockhal, live and directly.

As a school kid, Nena already sang in a new wave band, The Stripes. This girl from Hagen, Germany, was no punk, although she dreamt of a savage life where friendship is just as important as music, captivating and authentic music. Her first singles, “Nur geträumt”, became a big hit in 1982. Today, it is considered as a highlight of German new wave music. The following singles “99 Luftballons” sold one million copies only in the United States, where it remained in the charts for 23 weeks! All over the world, 22 million albums were sold.

Ever since, Nena has released one hit singles and successful album after the other, sold out tour after tour and regularly had to stop by at award ceremonies. She’s appeared in several movies and acted in a production of “Jedermann” in Zürich, Switzerland. She’s written children’s books, won awards and prizes – and still remained herself: a mother of four who lives in a happy relationship in Hamburg and only accepts to take part in projects which she’s really convinced of.

“Nena feat. Nena” and “Willst Du Mit Mir Gehn” were extraordinarily successful. This was also due to the artist’s stunning presence on stage – when the Olympic Stadium in Berlin was reopened in 2004, she ran one lap of honor after the other, singing to the cheering crowd. Life is a great adventure for her, and it always has some surprises in store. What she likes best is to do things no one would expect from her. In 2002, she recorded the club hit “Oldschool Baby” together with Westbam, the grandmaster of German electro. In 2004 followed “Bang Bang”, a house track in cooperation with Tok Tok. At the same time, Nena‘s band consists of confirmed rock musicians who’ve worked with Gun’n’Roses, Billy Joel, Paul Simon and Joan Jett. But Nena also cares for the youngest of her fans: as a mother of four, she has released eight wonderful records with children’s songs over the years.

Nena’s new studio album “Made In Germany” was released on 2nd October 2009. It contains thirteen fantastic pop songs which are incredibly modern and contemporary, good to dance to… and they definitely rock. Pop music at its finest, as usual. On 29th April, she’ll present songs from this album, the new singles “Du bist so gut für mich”, and all her hits at the Rockhal, so make sure you get your tickets in time!
