Starting as a project by producer Steven Wilson (well-known for the eclectic work he did for Anja Garbarek and Opeth), Porcupine Tree quickly made its mark in Europe’s music scene.

While the nineties gave Wilson the means to build Porcupine Tree’s sound, it was the new millennium that catapulted him to success thanks to a couple of very splendid records: “In Absentia” and “Deadwing”, both of which were released by major label Warner. Porcupine Tree, who are progressive and modern at a time, didn’t stop to increase their pace over the years. Neither did they hesitate to allow influences of metal and trip hop in their visionary sound.

In April 2007, Porcupine Tree finally became known to the masses when they released “Fear of a blank planet”, which is definitely one of the albums of the year. This record brought the band its first chart hit in the United Kingdom. Later, they started a world tour that was completely sold out.
