Rea Garvey has a whole string of talents. He is well known as the guitarist and leader of the Raemonn band, solo artist, jury member of the casting show "The Voice of Germany" and he has collaborated with numerous colleagues. Now he has a new band as his accompaniment. With his recent album called "Can't stand the silence" he is about to do his rounds and on 31 March 2012 he will be turning up in the Rockhal.
Rea Garvey knows what the calm before the storm is. His first solo album is called "Can't stand the silence". This is what he thinks of it. What he loves doing, in musical terms, is to throw himself headlong in the teeth of the storm and face up to nature.
The Reamonn band's qualities are easy to see. In the man himself they are even more apparent. He has a feeling for melody, rhythm and rhyme. He can spin a yarn. His songs are sure hits. His fans are not going to find it hard to follow him as he blazes his fresh trail. This is because he latches on to his past experience and the feeling he has for it. What is more, he instils fresh life into it.
We see this most of all in the shape of his new album. Of course, he will be coming up with some of his songs from his popular past. We shall be hearing them at his concert at the Rockhal.
"Can't Stand The Silence" is Rea's wish for a change. He told us "each of my albums is a milestone in my development. But this one didn't have a safety net. Of course, working with a band can be a bit risky. However, if you are standing alone out there you need even more self confidence. You have to be able to exercise some self criticism. In doing this, and finding myself at the same time, I have even more respect for others".
Despite all this, Rea is convinced that moving on from his band to a solo career was the right thing to do, and maybe the only thing to do at this moment. That is why he did not find the decision difficult. It is because he prefers the storm to the calm before it. His album and his new songs convey this and his own excitement perfectly. Rea is laid back and sometimes super relaxed. Even so he is true unto himself. He latches on to the best characteristics of his career and consolidates his style.
Right through 2011 all his concerts were sold out. There are the signposts alongside his career. Rea Garvey and his brilliant accompanists are convincing. They are an exciting ensemble. On 31 March 2012 he will not be letting down his fans in Luxembourg's Rockhal.
