EMILIE SIMON

Review
Emilie Simon’s highly anticipated new album “The Big Machine” will be released on 14 September 2009. After that release, the beautiful singer will go on a tour which will bring her to Luxembourg for the first time. A unique opportunity to discover this electro artist who is not like the others!
“I want to make the music that I want. Without someone forcing rules on me or telling me what to do”. Emilie Simon has been literally following this quote for almost 6 years now since her first, eponymous album was released. By the way, this record was awarded the “Victoire de la Musique” in the category “Best electronic music album of the year”.
As she is a sound engineer’s daughter, music quickly defined Emilie’s life style. She went to conservatory at the age of 7, at 18 she started studying Musicology at the University of Montpellier. Later she graduated in Musicology at the Sorbonne in Paris and started working for the Ircam (Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique), an institution that is dedicated to contemporary music research and creation.
Since her time at the Ircam, Emilie Simon has written, arranged and produced two absolutely essential albums (“Emilie Simon” in 2003 and “Végétal” in 2006), as well as the original sound track for the movie “La marche de l'Empreur”.
This fall, pretty Emilie returns with her third album, “The Big Machine”. The first singles, “Dreamland” is already on heavy rotation on all radio stations and the album should finally establish this artist as one of the most interesting and innovative of the last decade.
