Review
The English collective Archive will be back at the Rockhal after their remarkable show in 2009. The band of Darius Keeler and Danny Griffithy, will perform an exceptional concert at the Rockhal on 09 November 2011 together with the Super Sonic Symphony Orchestra from Brussels. Archive's orchestral show will feature their entire repertory of songs, played in a new format to the greatest pleasure of their fans.
At Archive, it is not only the personnel who are interchangeable: the music goes the same way, following the influences and cravings of the two leaders. Although "Londinium" (the first album in 1996) was clearly rather dark trip hop, "Take my Head" (the second album in 1999) was altogether more accessible, melodic and ethereal. In 2002, the group again blurred the issue by releasing "You All Look the Same to Me". It signalled goodbye to the experiments in trip hop, and hello to progressive rock! With Walker the group seemed at last to have found a new identity and the collaboration extended to the albums "Noise" (2004) and "Unplugged" (2004).
Nevertheless, Archive seemed to be delighted with the new musical electro/progressive style, and the album "Lights" in 2006 confirmed it. With no fewer than three vocalists (David Penney, Pollard Berrier and Maria Q), Archive was then at the top of its art and live performances were becoming unforgettable. "Controlling Crowds" (2009), marks the significant return of rapper Rosko John. Archive takes its public trough a timeless voyage supported by synthesizers and dark industrial beats and at the album is followed by the release of "Controlling Crowds Part IV" at the end of the year.
Darius Keeler, permanent member of the band, is explaining the concept of this unique show: " We wanted to do something special for our fans and we believe playing with an orchestra on stage will create a truly memorable event. We record with a full orchestra on our albums so this is a great opportunity to enjoy our tracks performed live, exactly as they should be heard."
Together with the Super Sonic Symphony Orchestra from Brussels, the Archive is offering a concert of rare intensity to the public of the Rockhal on 9 November 2011. Make sure you are part of this exclusive event.
