The Rockhal regrets to announce that due to unforeseen promotional commitments Corinne Bailey Rae has to cancel her show which was scheduled at the Rockhal on 1st July. All tickets bought can be reimbursed at their point of sale.
She could be Ayo’s soul mate, and Corinne Bailey Rae from England has definitely made soul music relevant again. With her new album “The Sea”, she has once again created a symbiosis of radiant sunsets and a bittersweet, melancholic undertone. Few are the artists who are able to conjure such precious moments …
Corinne Bailey Rae was born in Leeds in 1979. Her career literally exploded in 2006 when her first, eponymous album was released along with the hit singles “Put your records on”. The album sold more than 500,000 copies in Great Britain and one million in the United States!
2006 was also a very successful year in terms of awards. Amongst others, Corinne Bailey Rae won three Grammy Awards. While she was working on her second album, fate showed its other face and took away her husband, the saxophone player Jason Rae.
The second album “The Sea” was finally released in February, 2010, and it immediately made it to a top spot in worldwide sales figures. Even though she was influenced by the tragic events of 2008, Corinne Bailey Rae didn’t want this record to be a simple requiem: it’s a colorful and blazing album… with a very subtle melancholic undertone.
