Review

Delphic make incredibly catchy electro rock, and the media hail them as the “renewal of the Manchester scene”. Right after its release, their first album made it to the eighth position in the English charts. Now Delphic prepare to conquer the world’s best festivals and clubs during their upcoming world tour. They’re going to reawake the spirit of the Hacienda on 15 July next, and the Rockhal Club will certainly not escape the invasion…

Some bands are reincarnations of the sound of a certain era. Without any doubt, Delphic is one of them. Delphic’s sound has a remarkable capacity to express juvenile enthusiasm. With their tasty mix of old school electro rock, James Cook (vocals), Dan Theman (drums), Matt Cocksedge (guitar) and Richard Boardman (multi instrumentalist) liven up “Madchester”, the rave era at the Hacienda and Tony Wilson’s famous Factory.

Delphic were revealed by the label Kitsuné in 2009 and they know how to prove that they’re from Manchester: their rock and dance adaptations are simply brilliant. They’re as harmonic and sweet as the Pet Shop Boys (“This Momentary”), they don’t deny their ancestors, New Order (“Doubt”), and here and there they add some Underworld reminiscences or Orbital-like, whirling sounds. The Mancunians’ first album “Acolyte” got an incredible lot of great reviews from the most influential magazines and media in Britain.

Delphic’s only wish is to establish Manchester once again as world’s central dance floor, and they’re ready to use force. The date for Luxembourg is fixed: the Hacienda is at the Rockhal on 15 July!
