Review

Award-winning blues rock star, guitar hero and singer-songwriter Joe Bonamassa and his ace touring band will undertake a European tour in order to promote his 9th studio album “Dust Bowl”. Joe’s ability to connect with live concert audiences is incredible, and on 10 October 2011 he will convey this energy to the crowd of the Rockhal.

Bonamassa circles the globe playing an average of 200 shows a year, and his mind-blowing guitar wizardry and electrifying stage presence are selling out progressively larger venues all the time. As he heads back to the road in support of his new album, Bonamassa remains infinitely passionate about playing live. In 2009 Bonamassa was awarded the “Breakthrough Artist of the Year Award” at the U.K.’s prestigious “Classic Rock Roll of Honour Awards” and he was also named “Best Blues Guitarist” in “Guitar Player Magazine’s 2009 Readers Choice Awards” for the third consecutive year.

“Dust Bowl”, his new studio album is blues-rock like it should be. It combines the gritty, blues-based tones of his first albums with the fluid, genre-defying sounds he has mastered in the years since, and also features a dose of duets with legends like John Hiatt, Vince Gill and Glenn Hughes. The record further helps to solidify the fact that he can’t be pigeonholed into one musical class; blues, country, hard rock, even some Spanish influences pepper the record.

One of the continuing key qualities of Joe Bonamassa’s albums is the sheer amount of energy, in which Dust Bowl is no exception. This record is packed so full of energy that the music nearly explodes through the speakers.

Some call him the future of blues, but they are wrong, Joe Bonamassa is the present; so fresh and of his time that he almost defines it. His concert on 10 October will be a must see for all fans from early blues to modern rock.
