On 22 May 2011, the inevitable Californian indie rock band Rooney will play at the Rockhal Club.
Rooney, which was formed in 1999, is a step back to the mid-eighties. Today, they are one of the most loyal groups drawing their inspiration from British invasion rock and pop music. Over the years, they’ve captured plenty of musical elements from the past forty years and turned them into something that is modern nowadays. “When Did Your Heart Go Missing?” from the second album “Calling the world” proves it: as a veritable mishmash of their different influences, this song was a huge success with an international audience.
They’ve often been compared with bands such as The Beatles or Blur, and after having toured with Weezer and The Strokes, Rooney’s musical career is already quite impressive. After two albums, the 5 guys recorded Eureka in 2010 for their own label “California Dreaming Records”. This third record became a turning point in their musical life as it allowed them to be more mature and free while conserving their catchy sound and their stage skills. Eureka is kind of a retrospective on Rooney’s life as a band, its future, past and present.
Thanks to their preceding tours, Rooney have travelled the world, which allowed them to make a name for themselves in the indie pop and rock scene and prepare their 2011 “Not in my house tour”. It’s going to start in the United States before it comes to Europe and stops over in Luxembourg at the Rockhal’s Club on 22 May 2011.
