Selah Sue is the musical discovery of the year and her first album is incredibly successful in Belgium and abroad. This young Flamish artist is a phenomenon: for three months now, she’s been delighting everybody. The audience adores her talent, her husky voice and her piercing blue eyes. Selah Sue will hit the Rockhal’s stage on 14 December 2011 to prove her talent to the fans from Luxembourg.

Classical dance was her first love and Selah Sue didn’t see herself as a musician at the beginning. As a teenager she worte and composed songs to get rid of her anxieties, a way to “structure her thoughts”. Soul, funk and reggae melodies became more and more important in her artistic pursuit as she drew inspiration form her idols Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu and Bob Marley. She rapidly became known on the internet and caught the attention of professional musicians.

Pretty quickly, she adopted the guitar as her accompanying instrument of choice and scored with her exceptionally warm, powerful, deep, slightly husky and seemingly fragile voice. It’s certainly this voice that impressed Milow when he discovered her at an open mic session in 2006. With his support, the singer was able to reach a broader audience as supporting act for James Morrisson, Jamie Lidell, Keziah Jones and The Streets.

Her first album was released in March under the simple title of “Selah Sue” and came as a real bombshell: 11 self-composed songs, a duet with Cee Lo Green, and the machine was on its way. Now that she was becomig known, TV, the radio, the written press and the internet celebrated Selah Sue, whose “Raggamuffin” video was viewed more than a million times. Her walls are plastered with awards and her live shows impress the audience. On Prince’s express wish, she supported him in his show at the Sportpaleis in Belgium in 2010.

Selah Sue will present her mix of electric rock, organic hip hop, soul and funk on the Rockhal’s stage on 14 December 2011. Get ready for an exeptional concert.
