Review
During their 25 years of sound experience, SKINNY PUPPY have broken barriers, opened up spirits, and influenced “industrial” bands such as Ministry, Nine Inch Nails or Rammstein. They were always avant-garde: from the era of audio tapes to digital sound, this trio from Vancouver has explored, torn to shreds, manipulated and created the bases of electronic and industrial music. Now the pioneers come back to their audience for some chosen dates in Europe. On 22nd July, they’re at the Rockhal Club for an unforgettable experience, in the proper and figurative meaning…
From 1983 and their first audio tape until the album “Mythmaker” in 2007, these Canadians have laid the foundations for industrial music. SKINNY PUPPY is a monster which devours the slightest intonations and spits them back to its audience, sometimes in a brutal manner.
Their inspiration comes from Jamaican and Asian vibrations, and they prospect the craziest technical possibilities there are… this beast fascinates with its integrity, captivates with its spirituality and always combines its creations with a vision and relevant thoughts about the world and what’s going wrong in it. Their visual environment, which varies from psychedelic dark to gothic, gives even more life to the works of Cevin Key and Nivek Ogre. But SKINNY PUPPY are very hard to describe on paper because their music is complex and profound. It’s almost naturally that their entire power shows when they’re on stage, which will be the case on 22nd July, 2010. This is going to be an inevitable industrial date for all those in the Greater Region who already know them, and for those who don’t: SKINNY PUPPY at the Rockhal Club.
