THE GOOD MORNING DIARY - 20h00 (Club)

A born songwriter, Chris Buseck’s talent to write for other artists almost made him give up his own solo career but in 2008, as a student of the legendary “Popkurs” at Hamburg’s music university, he rediscovered his qualities as a singer. THE GOOD MORNING DIARY is one of Chris Buseck’s solo projects – and never before have we been allowed to get so close to this exceptional songwriter. Anyone who has a faible for beautiful songs will love the fragile and moving aspect of his songs. Buseck’s music expresses the light-hearted verve of a bright and sunny morning.

MONOPHONA - 20h30 (Rockhalcafe)

DJ and producer Philippe "Chook" Schirrer and singer-songwriter Claudine Muno teamed up to create a music that is both electronic and acoustic, equal parts analog and digital, where guitars and pianos meet samples and beats. Stepping away from the warm and folksy sounds we have come to appreciate from her and her band, The Lunaboots, she now delivers mind-bending lyrics over gloomy, not-so-warm-anymore downtempo beats, served cold by Chook. Monophona can be viewed as making headphone music, the type of tunes that you can listen alone eyes closed, but it also suits any gathering of people up for a pure listening experience. It’s the perfect blend of two extremes, electronic yet intimate, melodic yet innovative. http://www.myspace.com/monophona

RUBIK - 21h00 (Club)

Rubik’s music has always combined a technical approach with a natural sense of melody, ever since its first live shows around Helsinki in 2003. The band was quickly signed by the Finland’s leading independent label Fullsteam; nevertheless they had to wait until 2009 to break beyond the boundaries of the band’s native land. The catalyst was their album “Dada Bandits” with its distinctive pop brilliance. The band can be as withdrawn and thick-headed as the artiest rock group out there and then bust out with a melodic hug potent enough to enclose the globe. Rubik can go from sounding like a well oiled, world-conquering machine to a broken down, cigarette encrusted bar piano.

BIRDBONES - 21h30 (Rockhalcafe)

It is hard not to be mesmerized by Deborah Lehnen’s voice. That discovery led guitarist Dan and drummer Erik to spend two years exchanging ideas and developing songs per correspondence with the Mauritius residing singer. Her move to Luxembourg in 2010 and bassist Jonah made it possible for Birdbones to develop into a full-fledged band and complete their lineup with Sid on the keys. The quintet focuses on upfront live shows that draw inspiration from progressive rock, funk and world music to blend a unique mix of powerful vocals and a solid groove. Birdbones released their first single “Every Single One Of Us” in September 2010. http://www.birdbones.com/

PLANNINGTOROCK - 22h00 (Club)

The alter ego of multi-instrumentalist, programmer and videographer Janine Rostron, Planningtorock fuses all of Rostron's talents into a dazzling audiovisual presentation that borrows from classical music, glam rock, spacey imagery, and hip-hop. A classically trained violinist who began playing at age eight, Rostron moved from Bolton, Lancashire, to Berlin in the early '90s; the Planningtorock persona first surfaced in 2002, when she began performing at the city's clubs. Planningtorock's live shows are blurring the boundaries between concerts and performance art, with Rostron wearing outlandish helmets and costumes and interacting with video characters. After signing to Chicks on Speed Records, Planningtorock released the limited-edition 7" "Changes/I Wanna Bite Ya" early in 2006 and her first full-length, "Have It All", that summer.

ANGEL AT MY TABLE - 22h30 (Rockhalcafe)

Loaded with lush guitars, catchy melodies and unique vocals, Angel At My Table produces a fresh, harmoniously modulated and distinctive powerpop sound. Original in their local scene, the group has been placed firmly on the Luxembourg music map, and faster than any other recent band. Their first single “City Romance” hit radio stations in the country like a bomb reaching the top spot in the Luxembourg charts. During summer 2010 the band was lucky enough to share the stage with some of their favourite bands including Paramore, Deftones, 30 Seconds To Mars, The Prodigy, Jennifer Rostock and many more. With each show the band’s energetic performances has gained them new fans and given the band the opportunity to improve their live sound and stage presence. Don’t miss your opportunity to see them live, performing at the Rockhal.

THE COMPUTERS - 23h00 (Club)

The U.K. hardcore scene has been booming over the last few years with a whole host of great acts emerging but one band that has really started to make a name of themselves are The Computers. Playing the Sonic Visions stage on Saturday, the Exeter four-piece are sure to get the crowd going with a sound which takes hardcore punk and infuses it with a blues twinge. Their debut album “This Is The Computers” is demonstrating the band’s quality with front man Alex’s gritty screaming vocals but they aren’t just good on record either; their live shows really pack a punch. Be prepared for a concert in classic hardcore style!

FRENCH FILMS - 23h30 (Rockhalcafe)

French Films is a five-piece indie rock band from Finland. Their music is often described as a mixture of sunny surf rock and new wave…but sunny music from a cold cold place. They could really be the first cousins of The Drums. With their combination of sunny and cloudy sounds, wide echoes, young energetic drive and escapistic vocals sung by several lead singers, their music is creating its own world full of islands, mountains and celebration, where the joke is on those who praise the unequal system and the questionable truths. To put it simply, it is music for the young and the young-hearted minds.

THE DRUMS - 24h00 (Club)

Brooklyn four-piece The Drums are one of the most exciting new young bands to come out of New York this century. Their infectious brand of mostly upbeat electro indie tunes is set to be a likely mainstream force within the next few years. Their songs like “Let's Go Surfing” include different musical styles yet their catchy rhythms are simply addictive. The Drums create music that is in many ways quite minimal, but also extremely varied, making their live appearances anything but predictable. Get ready for the explosive live show of a band that sounds and seems familiar yet brand new at the same time.

THE AERIAL - 00h45 (Rockhalcafe)

To sum up, the Aerial is one English singer and three French guys. Since their debut just over one year ago, they have been selected for “le Printemps de Bourges” and the “Eurockéenes” in the Lorraine region, “M6 Music Live” and most recently the June selection for les “Inrocks Lab”.  The group also played at the main festivals in the East of France (Le Jardin De Michel, Zikametz, Musiques et Terrasses, Nancy Jazz Pulsations). They have recently shared the stage with The Amplifetes, Keren Ann, Lilly Wood & The Prick, Birdpen, Balthazar, Hangar, Lexicon, Yelle and The Shoes.

YUKSEK - 01h15 (Club)

Pierre-Alexandre Busson aka Yuksek spent his adolescence practising piano several hours a day at music school before realising that “the only job I could get was as a music teacher.”  Little by little his reputation grew as one of Reims’ key pop figures, going from The Bewitched Hands on the Top of our Heads to Alb by way of Brodinksi & The Shoes, to become the artist we know now. Since his adventure started at the end of the 20th century, Yuksek inevitably, naturally, discovered electronic music. Yuksek became standard-bearer of post Soulwax/Justice disco-rock club culture; by being cultivated and keen, mixing sonic strength and sensibility, sexy images and impromptu noisiness.
