Review

The Rockhal is proud to host, for the very first time, Soprano (a member of the French hip hop group Psy 4 de la Rime). The rap singer from Marseille now starts his career as a solo artist and releases his second album after the tremendous success of “Puisqu’il faut vivre” in 2007.

Soprano always made music, and when he saw the American band Kriss Kross in the early nineties, he decided to start rapping to express his personality and his commitment. As one of the most important French rap artists, he uses his language to surpass clichés and wipe out codes and prejudices. He’s a hard-working rap musician with multiple influences: Jacques Brel and Daniel Balavoine as much as Nas, Bob Marley, Muse or Coldplay.

Soprano is a creative person with his very own procedures. He writes down his deepest thoughts and talks about euthanasia, melancholy and his personal chaos. His words draw a direct line to the hearts of the youth of his country.

For his second album, “La colombe”, which has already won the status of a double golden album and sold more than 250.000 copies, a CD which was recorded during the last two years and contains the best of his work. In 2011, Soprano is going to publish his third album.

Soprano is also a member of the French hip hop group Psy 4 de la Rime, which he formed in 1995, together with two other Comorians and one Moroccan. They were supported by IAM and their success among Marseille’s youth was incredible.

Soprano just loves to be on stage. Some of his songs were simply written to be performed and to make the audience move. This is an opportunity not to miss for all friends of French rap, and it’s in the Rockhal’s Club!
