Review
The Rockhal will host The Wombats for a captivating concert on 22 November 2011! As former students of the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, which was founded by Paul McCartney, The Wombats are a three-piece makes excellent, danceable post punk pop.
This English band was formed in 2003 and has a special taste for international tours! Thanks to their will to become known by their concerts, they have acquired planetary fame and played for more than a million people. In 2007, The Wombats accomplished the feat of being the first non-signed band ever to sell out the Liverpool Academy!
It was the band’s consecration as they were also about to release their much awaited first album “A Guide To Love, Loss And Desperation”! With songs such as “Kill The Director”, “Let’s Dance To Joy Division”, “Backfire At The Disco” and “Moving To New York”, the three musicians tell their fans that they don’t make music to worry their brains. Quite the opposite! Their album’s sometimes slightly childish humour and their accurate sense of composing prove it.
Often considered as the heirs of the Pet Shop Boys for the ants in their pants, Oasis or Supergrass for their nervous rock music, and The Smiths for the irony of their lyrics, The Wombats are one of the crazy bands of their time! Their second album “This Modern Glitch” released in April was produced by Eric Valentine (Queens of the Stone Age) and Jacknife Lee (U2, REM) and boosts the trio’s sound to an enormous level of truly magical pop know-how!
If you want to be part of this extraordinary show, come to the Rockhal on 22 November!
