SCISSOR SISTERS
Named after the slang term for lesbians and hugely entertaining on stage, Scissor Sisters from New York take inspiration from cabaret and burlesque. Their tunes are instantly catchy, their lycra-clad glam is addictive. Scissor Sisters have taken the world by storm a few years back with Comfortably Numb, a disco version of a Pink Floyd song about rock star alienation and moneyed ennui. At least, this seemed to make perfect sense. On the latest album, Night Work, the tunes again are unstoppable. An album filled to the brim with beats that could make even a corpse twitch. Live, the Scissor Sisters quickly slip into hyper-sexualized gay club mode and stick to the vibe. A good-natured party indeed... don’t miss their show if you love to have fun from time to time.
