The powerhouse blues rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa is returning to the Rockhal after his electrifying show in 2011. This time his performance is in support of the brand new solo album “Driving Towards The Daylight”. One could witness Joe’s incredible ability to connect with the audience and on 19 March 2013 he will bring back this energy to the Rockhal more powerfully than ever before.
A child prodigy, Joe Bonamassa was finessing Stevie Ray Vaughan improvised solos when he was 7 and by the time he was 10, he had caught B.B. King’s ear. By the age of 12, Bonamassa was opening shows for the blues icon and went on to tour with admired acts including Buddy Guy, Foreigner, Robert Cray, Stephen Stills, Joe Cocker and Gregg Allman.
No wonder he is regarded as one of the world’s greatest guitar players. The charismatic musician and singer-songwriter has been honoured as 2011’s “Guitarist of the Year” by Guitar International, is a staple on Guitar Player magazine’s Annual Readers’ Choice Awards, having won “Best Blues Guitarist” five consecutive years. Though still a young 34 years of age, this guitar slinger has accomplished more than most players in a lifetime.
“Driving Towards The Daylight” is Bonamassa’s lucky 13th album and is a balanced back to the basics album that highlights Bonamassa’s signature style of roots blues with rock 'n' roll guts, while honouring the traditions of the original blues musicians. It features special guests including Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford. The new record lately entered the European charts and landed on the seventh place in the German album charts. Furthermore his recently released DVD “Joe Bonamassa: Beacon Theatre – Live from New York” showcases his stunning sold-out two-night performance with special guests Paul Rodgers, John Hiatt and Beth Hart.
One of the continuing key qualities of Joe Bonamassa’s albums is the sheer amount of drive, in which his 2 last ones “Dust Bowl” and “Driving Towards The Daylight” are no exception. These records are packed so full of energy that the music nearly explodes through the speakers.
Some call him the future of blues, but they are wrong, Joe Bonamassa is the present; so fresh and of his time that he almost defines it. His concert on 19 March 2013 will be a must see for all fans from early blues to modern rock.
