Review

After their appearances in 2007 and 2008 at the Rockhal, German dance punk duo The Digitalism are back in action for a live performance on 25 October 2011. With a new album ready to drop in June, Digitalism will delight the audience with tracks from their forthcoming record “I Love You, Dude”.

There are loads of rock bands making music for the dance floor. Digitalism however make electronic music that everyone can rock to. In the past years, the duo made indie remixes for The White Stripes, Klaxons, Daft Punk and Depeche Mode.

Digitalism is Jens Moelle & Ismail Tuefekci from Hamburg. They met at the city’s Underground Solution record store. Soon they were bonding over their shared love of dance and rock records and quickly became a DJ tag team. A band was born and their 2005 tune “Zdarlight” put them on the radar of a new network of young DJs across the globe pushing club culture in a strong rock direction.

Digitalism’s 2007 album “Idealism” has solidified the Hamburg duo as one of the most devoted artists of all to the idea of merging rock and electronic dance music. The aim was to get the indie rock kids on the dance floors. Their live shows soon became popular in demand and took them all over the world, with firing tunes such as “Jupiter Room” and “Pogo”.

After a few years of touring they concentrated on crafting their latest work “I Love You, Dude” in their World War II bunker studio in Hamburg. Each one of the tracks on this upcoming record has their own vibrant identity. The band sets the bar high for themself, featuring tracks like “Forrest Gump”, co-written with Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas.

Now get ready for the pioneers of the electro-punk and indie dance movement Digitalism to return to the Rockhal. They will perform live on 25 October 2011 and will turn the Club of the Rockhal into an enormous Dance floor.
