KILLSWITCH ENGAGE (@ KULTURFABRIK)
In cooperation with the Rockhal, the Kulturfabrik in Esch/Alzette presents one of the most influential and inspirational forces in modern music: Killswitch Engage. Their concert performances have made them one of metalcore's most riotous and wanted bands. With their sixth album set to release in late 2012 and the return of original singer Jesse Leach, their gig at the Kulturfabrik on 12 June 2012 is going to be staggering.
After bursting onto the scene in 2002 with the genre defining "Alive or Just Breathing", Killswitch Engage have managed to achieve a Grammy nomination and adopt a non-stop touring schedule. The band has the rare ability to connect the line between the metal and alternative scenes by touring with Slayer and Mastodon as easily as My Chemical Romance and Underoath.
However, the band elected not to ride on the wave of prior successes, which saw them become one of the most successful bands to emerge from the so-called "New Wave" of American metal. For their latest self-titled release, the band opted to work with an outside producer for the first time in their career. As for the impact the band has left on the current hard rock scene, the band is modest and humble about their role. It is their talent and the crafting of good music that speaks to the fans.
The band recently announced that they have filled the singer vacancy in the band and they have done so with a familiar face: original vocalist Jesse Leach. He auditioned for the job he once held and the band members stated "truth be told, Jesse blew us away in auditions. The choice became very clear and apparent." The band also is sharing the news with their fans, quoting "This change is very exciting. We know you're going to love it. This is truly a new era in Killswitch Engage history and it is ready to shred your face off. Here is to a killer new record and a bright future. The five of us cannot wait to write this record and play shows together and bring that feeling to our fans."
With a decade in the business, Killswitch Engage has provided us with the most ruthless and hard-hitting metal out there. Don't miss their breath taking and aggressive live performance, as they will hit the stage of the Kulturfabrik hard on 12 June 2012.
