With the release of their live album “MTV Unplugged – Above and Beyond” Mando Diao demonstrated that acoustic instruments and high-speed rock ’n’ roll can harmonize perfectly. In addition to their live performance at Rock am Ring this year, the band confirmed a few unplugged shows in selected venues and the Rockhal is one of them. The date is fixed to 11 October 2011.

Since their first single, “Motown Blood”, Mando Diao have achieved more in ten years than a garage band from Sweden normally would dream of. They have released five albums up to the present time, during which they advanced from rebellious indie rockers to serious number-one contenders. Their last album "Give Me Fire" is now decorated with platinum.

From the snappy "Sheepdog" to the casual "Dance With Somebody", the dual singing front men Gustaf Norén (vocals, guitar), Björn Dixgård (vocals, guitar) and their buddies Carl-Johan "CJ" Fogelklou (bass), Samuel Giers (drums) and Mats Björk (Keys), have made their way from the sweaty club scene to headlining festival main stages.

Now they have released a best of album, but not a regular one. The MTV Unplugged series only showcase the work of top artists. Their live recording called “Above And Beyond” is an acoustic set with a somewhat private atmosphere where you can hear the audience cheer and sing along and the band having fun on stage. Some songs like “Dance With Some body” were rearranged in order to fit the acoustic set. Other songs like “Chet Baker” and “Gloria” are accompanied by a female singer. Complemented by an orchestra for some songs, the record sounds very deep.

Nonetheless this will not be an unplugged concert where you sit in your chair. In rock 'n' roll, rules are meant to be broken. Even the softest tones of their performance will make proof of their relentless energy without the need of amplifiers. With their unplugged performance at the Rockhal on 11 October, Mando Diao will be back at the Rockhal after their amazing show in 2009 and be sure that this time it will be something really special, so don’t miss this opportunity!

After ten rewarding years with the band Sugarplum Fairy, singer Carl Norén displays some new sides of himself. With his debut solo album, "Owls", he offers a wider ranger of emotions and slightly darker tunes. But the pop feeling is of course still there, all through the album. As the opener for the Mando Diao Acoustic Tour 2011 concert at the Rockhal, he will perform his newest songs to the audience in Luxembourg.
